Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance, sometimes simply referred to as “testing”, is a crucial service for any program, project, development, or enhancement. QA provides verification and validation that the developed product matches the expected / anticipated technical requirement but also that it either meets or exceeds the functional demands required for it to be of applicable business use. The business verification is handled typically under UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for new applications, and UVT (User Validation Testing) for enhancements to existing implementations.

There are many different type of testing, a few are mentioned here:

Automation Testing

Automation Testing

Automation testing uses software to complete various types of testing; simple repetitive tests, more complex scenarios, code quality, code integrity, workflow testing, ETL process validation, and even AI driven on some platforms.  This testing optimizes resource utilization and is often quicker once configured specifically – typically useful for large or complex engagements.

Manual Testing

Manual Testing

Manual testing is the most common form of testing and, although more resource intensive, is more adaptable to take into consideration last minute changes, applying business logic, and even interpretation of a use case / acceptance criteria more humanly logical than AI can in the case of automation testing.

  • Scenario Testing
    • As the name suggests this form of testing allows a specific use case / situation to be considered, validated and verified. Generally it is faster and more business applicable than a dictated test case approach since the tester can use judgement criteria to establish the test data and when to apply based upon the specific scenario.
  • Test Case Testing
    • TCT is the most specific, and most time consuming; however it is also the most detailed. This approach is utilized predominantly in regulated systems where every step, every criteria must be specified explicitly with no interpretation applied.
